PAPATOETOE BAND

The Town Hall. Papatoetoe, was comfortably filled last evening (Wednesday, June 29), on the occasion of the Papatoetoe Town Band concert. The stage was prettily ornamented with greenery, and gaily-coloured flags were also prominent. On the rise of the curtain the band received a warm recepti<Ai from the audience, and Mr. C. Shore, the popular bandmaster, received an ovation. The programme submitted comprised selections and marches by the band, and vocal selections by Miss Phyllis Gribbin (contralto), Mr. Duncan Black (basso), Miss Litherland (mezzo-soprano), humorous items by Mr. Alan McElwain, sailors’ hornpipe by Miss Gladys McCauley, and a saxophone duet by Messrs. C. J. Shore and A. Bullen The role of Accompanist was ably filled by Miss Rita Burnside.
