POLICE IN ROSKILL
BETTER TRANSPORT FACILITIES
ONEHUNGA’S LEAD
Originating from a suggestion by THE SUN, Mount Roskill Road Board, last evening, followed the lead given by Onehunga Borough Council, and decided to apply to the police headquarters at Wellington for increased police protection in the district and better efficiency on behalf of the force by providing its local members with modern transport facilities in the way of one or two motor-cycles. The subject was introduced by Mr. J. R. Robertson, who, as a large propertyowner in the district, complained of personal experience regarding burglaries and other instances of crime, never properly settled because the police had no proper facilities provided for rapid transport over an unusually large and populous area under their jurisdiction.
The chairman, Mr. F. E. Jones, stressed the vital importance of such provision, and the board members were unanimous in their declaration of the need of such an application being emphasised in the appeal to the Police Department.
