BIG COAL MERGER IN BRITAIN
ANTHRACITE FIELDS (Written Tor THE SUN.) RUGBY, Monday. A judgment which will have the effect of permitting the amalgamation of two large groups of anthracite coal companies in South Wales, with a capital of £5,000,000, was delivered to day by Mr. Justice Sankey at a sitting of the Railway and Canal Com mission. The Judge said the amalgamation would enable research to be conducted for the best way of working the great national asset the company possessed That research could not be carried on by merely individual concerns, but must be the result of the operations of a larger and stronger unit. —A. and N.Z.
