COLLISION NEAR KONINI

CYCLIST LOSES LEG MOTORIST FINED £27 Press Association . PAHIATUA, To-day. Fines aggregating £27 were imposed by Mr. Free, S.M., on Francis C. Dempsey this morning, on charges of driving a motor-car in a negligent manner, failing to notify the police of an accident, and also with driving without a licence. The defendant was also prohibited from getting a licence for 12 months. The charges arose out of a collision between defendant’s car and a motorcycle on an evening several weeks ago, at the corner of a road near Konini, as a result of which a youth, Don Reid, who was riding the machine, had to have his leg amputated. Medical evidence was given to the effect that Dempsey had been in bad health for some time.
