•rhe loss of four felt hats, two overcoat?, a pair of motor gauntlets and a* electric torch from the porchway; of St. John’s Church, Te Awamutu, on vonday evening during the service, resulted in the arrest of Charles Leonard HQgst and Kenneth David Murray. The Accused were rabbiting in the Roto-o-Kangi district, near Cambridge. When thought before the court at Te Awainotu on Wednesday by Constable poyle the accused stoutly deneid any Knowledge of the thefts. Some of the joissing articles have been discovered *it the camp where accused were living. Some of the rabbit traps were also examined and these correspond with some reported missing a few weeks ago from Mr. N. M. Lethbridge’s Hiwinui estate, Owairaka, for :hey bore peculiar marks and one had been repaired. A remand until Tuesday next was applied for by Constable Doyle and accordingly granted. An arrest in connection with these thefts was reported from Cambridge yesterday, when a young man pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property.
