BEAUTY BATHS
SOME TRIED RECIPES After a day of great mental or physical stress there is nothing so refreshing as a scented bath, w r hich, incidentally, performs the useful service of whitening and softening the skin. A bran and lemon bath, for instance, is both refreshing and inexpensive. The usual method is to take two tablespoonsful of bran, place it in a small butter muslin bag, and add to it the shredded rind of half a lemon, preferably dried. Tie up the bag and place it in a quart of boiling water. After it has stood for about half an hour, take out the bag and throw the water in which it has been soaking into the bath. The bag will be thrown in as well and used as a flesh glove. It will have an excellent effect on the skin. Another fragrant bath may be obtained by the use of oatmeal and orrisroot. Take two tablespoonsful of oatmeal to one of orris-root, tie up in a muslin bag, and pour over it a quart of hot water. Leave for 10 minutes; then squeeze the bag until all the white, milky fluid has been extracted, and pour this liquid into the bath water. The bag, as before, will be quite suitable for use as a flesh glove. For a sage and lavender bath, put one tablespoonful each of dried sage leaves and lavender tops in a cheese cloth or butter muslin bag, and add half a tablespoonful of dried orange peel. Tie up the bag, place it in a quart of boiling water, and leave till the water has become quite cold. Then squeeze the bag and add the liquid to the bath water. The bag can be hung up to dry and used a second time. Cakes, sweets, puddings flavour with K.P. Flavouring Essences. Pure, reliable. Lemon, Vanilla, Almond.—ls.
