PERSISTENT THIEF GOES BACK TO GAOL

OVER FIFTY CONVICTIONS rpHOMAS HENRY MASSICKS -*■ came out of gaol a few days ago. He is back there now. On at the Police Court he pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing 12 pairs of socks, valued at 12s. Sub-Inspector <Lewin said that accused had picked up a bundle of socks from outside a shop, and hid them under his overcoat. However, he was seen by an assistant. “He is an old offender,” said the sub-inspector. “He has 53 convictions, 47 of which are for theft. He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for theft on March 23.”

Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., sent him to gaol again for two months.
