THEOSOPHISTS’ PLANS

SECOND COMING OF CHRIST SYDNEY PREPARATIONS By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Saturday. An amphitheatre which has been erected at Balmoral Beach, Sydney, is discussed in the “Daily Express.” It is said to have been constructed to enable those who reserve seats to witness the second coming - of Christ across the waters of the harbour. The authorities in charge of the Theosophical News Bureau say the amphitheatre did not cost £B.OOO. All who contributed £ 1 up to £ 100 will be allowed a seat, but the accommodation is in no sense to be reserved for any event. In rebuttal of this statement, the “Express” publishes an extract from a pamphlet issued under the name of Dr. Mary Rocke, national representative in Australia of the Star in the East. This is diametrically opposed to the statement of the officials at the Theosophical News Bureau. The pamphlet says the amphitheatre has been erected “for the use of Christ, the supreme Teacher, Whose coming it is the privilege of the Order of the Star in the East to announce and prepare for. The amphitheatre may be regarded as the forerunner of similar buildings elsewhere.” The “Express” askg how the Theosophical News Bureau officials reconcile their denial with Dr. Rocke’s authentic statement. —A. and N.Z.
