FOUND DROWNED

DEVONPORT DISCOVERY BODY ON THE ROCKS At 8.45 o’clock this morning the body of Jack Gunning. aged about 40, was found lying in the water on the rocks near Victoria Wharf, at Devonport. THERE is no suggestion of suicide - 1 - and so far there is no explanation of how Gunning met his death. He was working for Mr. Charles Hodder, a trainer, of Puriri Avenue, Green Lane. The discovery was made this morning by a boy who was walking along King Edward Avenue. He saw the dead man lying on the rocks and Informed the police. A watch found in Gunning's pocket had stopped at 10 minutes past 12, It is thought that the body had not been long in the water when the discovery was made.
