TRAVELLING ALLOWANCE
INCREASING THE RATE WAITEMATA COUNCILLORS “We’re losing the spirit of councillors,” said a self-sacrificing member of the Waitemata County Council in opposing the increase of the rate of travelling allowance at this morning’s meeting of the council. Councillor F. W. Grigg was of the opinion that councillors deserved and earned the rate proposed, which was the rate in force before the -war-time retrenchment. The motion to increase the rate was carried. Witti regard to the plan of a sewer to be constructed through the Titirangi Riding, submitted by the New Lynn Town Board, it was suggested that other places for the discharge of sewage should be investigated—for instance the Whau —before finally deciding on the Manukau discharge. The reports were adopted.
