ELLERSLIE’S SOUND POSITION

The annual meeting of the Ellerslie Bowling Club was held on Tuesday evening last. A large number of members attended, Mr. W. B. Gavey 'presiding. The annual report and balance-sheet showed that the club is in a satisfactory financial position. The club’s percentage in the Pennant Competition was slightly less than in the previous year. However, the standard of play is improving and the green was in splendid order for play during most of the season. Following are the results of club contests:—Championship Singles: F. Osborne, runner-up, J. A. Godfrey. Club Fours: G. Westbrooke, H. K. McKenzie, F. Sykes, Jas. Taylor. Haridicap Singles: F. Wood, runner-up, J. White. Labour Day: J. Christmas, W. Osborne, F. Osborne, T. Dickson. Anniversary Day (pair): J. Ryan, J. J. Toy. A concession in the subscription has been granted to new first year players for the first season only. Votes of thanks to the Press were dulypassed. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. W. H. Flyger; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. Osborne, Jas. Taylor and J. J. Toy: hon. secretary, Mr. J. McKelvie; hon. treasurer, Mr. W. Williams; committee, Messrs. A. C. Hill, G. Westbrooke, J. White, J. H. Arthur, F. J. Sykes and W. Watson.
