A ROYAL WIN FLORALINE MAKES GOOD PUBLIC FORGET FORM Floraline, winner of the Royal Handicap, in which he paid a royal price to his few faithful followers, is an aged gelding by Florizel from Salva Dash, and had, prior to the Auckland fixture, started on six occasions for two wins this season. FIRST TIME OUT His first appearance was at the Otahuhu Spring gathering, where on the second day the Florizel gelding ran unplaced off a 4.56 mark in a twomile heat. Floraline next appeared at the Te Aroha fixture on January 22. failing to gain a situation in a 12furlong trotters’ race, with the ridiculous limit of 4min.. in which he was stationed 180 yards behind. GETTING SOME MONEY The gelding won a two-mile race off a 4.58 peg, later in the day, covering the journey in 4.59. A miss at the Otahuhu summer gathering was followed by a victory at Thames on March 26, when the trotter, off a 4.57 mark, tramped just a fraction outfiide his handicap. Produced at Cambridge later on a 4.55 mark he could not do any better than finish seventh. Off the end of the Winter Handicap on Saturday the Te Kauwhata-trained trotter, after going away, made a few bad breaks, and was soon out of court. A GOOD WIN On Wednesday he fairly revelled iri the heavy going and despite the fact that he left his feet on a few occasions romped home. Floraline is owned by Mr. A. B. Carley, who trains the gelding at .Te Kauwhata. The gelding had been going well in his work, and the owner expected him to do better on the opening; day. The son of Florent was well driven by S.
