AUCKLAND’S AVENUES MISS MELVILLE’S PROTEST 'lt is becoming - a reproath to the council the way the city has planted imported trees, when there are eminently suitable native trees,” said Cr. Ellen Melville, suggesting to the City Council last evening that indigenous trees be planted in Merivale Avenue, Parnell. The question of planting the street was referred to the Works Committee, which was directed to inquire into Cr. Melville’s suggestion, as •well as to consider, also, the advisability of planting Judge Street, Parnell.
