UNLICENSED HAWKERS

HAMILTON CAMPAIGN FIRST MAN FINED (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, To-day. Steps are being taken in the Hamilton district to apprehend unlicensed hawkers, and proceedings in the nature of a warning to other offenders were taken before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., to-day. “I’ve been selling two years without one,” remarked L. N. Lust, who was charged with hawking in the Waipa county without a licence. “That seems to be an aggravation, and not a mitigation of the offence,” observed the magistrate. He was convicted and ordered to pay 12s costs.
