LAWN TENNIS
ASSOCIATION’S REPORT The finances of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association are flourishing according to the annual report to be presented at the annual meeting on Thursday. The sound financial position is due to the “Big Three” art union, which produced a profit of £5,000. Although the revenue account shows an apparent loss of £866 18s 7d, this has been brought about by a heavy depreciation of £995 12s sd. In view of the healthy condition of the funds it was considered advisable to revalue the buildings and other assets and this had caused the heavy depreciation. The debenture-holders had all been paid back and the association had assets to the value of £4,077. Three of the association courts were again leased to the Auckland Tennig Club. Owing to the very unfavourable weather conditions the association was unable to carry out its arangements with a number of country clubs, several matches being abandoned. It was intended next season to send as many teams as possible to compete against affiliated country clubs.
