DAIRY FACTORY ADVANCES
The Northern Wairoa Co-operative Dairy Company last month made advance payments to suppliers amounting to £7,573 15s at the rate of Is a lb for butterfat as against £6,990 13s 5d last year at Is 3d. So far for the season 1926-27 the total payment has been £196,918 15s 4d as against £183,626 17s 3d in 1925-26. However, another payment estimated at £ 30,000 is expected to be made this year in September. At Te Puke, the Bay of Plenty Cooperative Dairy Company paid out for butterfat delivered during May, a total of 107,2391 b, £6,225 2s 7d. The quantity of butterfat received during the corresponding period hist year was 76,7801 b. and the amount distributed was £4,477 4s sd. The increase in the supply this year, therefore, was 39.67 per cent. In addition to the usual pay-out this month, the association also paid out a. bonus of £4,454 Os lid. The total amount paid out on June 20, including bonus, was. therefore. £10.679 3s 6d. For 45 tons 9cwt lgr of butter produced in May last, the Whangarei Dairy Company on Monday paid out £6,348 5s 3d, basing the payments at Is 3d a lb. This represented a considerable increase in both make and value on the figures for May, 1926, when for 15 tons 6cwt 3qrs, at Is 4d a lb, the company paid out £2,578 12s lOd. For the season to May 31, 1927, the Whangarei factory made 942 tons Ocwt 3qrs 241 b, compared with 718 tons 6cwt Oqr 71b for the corresponding period last year. The value increased from £107,421 11s Id in 1926 to £122,789 Is 9d in 1927.
