“Devonport not a strong playing club, but when we send out a team we should send our best,” remarked Mr. L. C. H. Sparrow, sole selector for Devonport Bowling Club, when discussing complaints laid before the annual meeting of the club last night. Some members felt aggrieved that they did not get out with the teams. Mr. Rice, in the chair, said in his 20 years’ experience with bowls he had found that the selector was never a popular man, but he always- had to have the club’s interests placed first.
