RAILWAYMEN DISMISSED

Following on the putting off of 10 railwaymen owing to a ballast pit closing down, the Mayor of Whangarei wired to the Prime Minister in his capacity of Minister of Railways, urging that an inquiry be made into the circumstances. Yesterday afternoon the following telegram was received in reply:—“Your telegram received. Will be pleased to have urgent inquiries made and communicate with you again.”—J. G. Coates.
