AUCKLAND CARGOES
FIGURES FOR MAY DECREASE ON LAST YEAR The busy port of Auckland handled 100,634 tons of imported cargo during the month of May, compared with 113,788 tons in May of last year. IN the same month 1,760 passengers arrived from overseas and 1,42 J passengers departed. The imported cargo makes an interesting list, showing the variety of articles that come to Auckland from the four corners of the globe. From the other parts of New Zealand 42,967 tons of cargo were landed, including 20,286 tons of coal and coke. From the Eastern Pacific carne 675 tons, including 400 tons of fresh fruit, and 16,415 tons from the Western Pacific, of which 1,476 tons was fresh fruit and 14,003 tons manures. Australia sent 9,236 tons of cargo, including 1,549 tons of timber; Cuba 4,739 tons of raw sugar, and India 1.539 tons of general cargo. The Straits Settlements sent 267 tons of cargo, Java 786 tons, including 40 tons of kapok, Burma 305 tons, the United Kingdom 14,402 tons. Canada 4,763 tons, and the United States 11,215 tons.
