N.Z. GIRLS AT REGENT
ENCHANTING SETTING “See the girls where they will look their best,” is the slogan adopted by the Regent Theatre in connection with the stage appearance on Friday evening next, and each evening following, of the 16 semi-finalists in the “Miss New Zealand 1927” screen quest. Justly priding itself on its unique staging and lighting possibilities, so wonderfully demonstrated this week in the gorgeous fashion parade, the theatre intends to present the girls in a manner which will be even more enchanting than this week’s spectacle. As voting will take place in the theatre during the week it is most important that the girls be seen under the most favourable circumstances, and the decision of the Regent management to use for the competitors a setting even more brilliant than that of the “Fashion,” should ensure every girl being presented under the best possible conditions. In addition to the staging and lighting effects being used to capacity, Mr. Maurice Guttridge will again arrange a special programme of music to synchronise with the parade. A singularly appropriate picture. “Blonde or Brunette,” a Paramount production, starring Adolphe Menjou. will also be offered. In this, the suave, sophisticated hero, supported by Greta Nissen and Arlette Marchel, shows how difficult it is to choose between dark and fair. The box plan for the season is open at the theatre, phone 46-888.
