MAYOR OF NAPIER FORFEITS HIS SEAT

CEMENT DEAL CONCERNED Press Association. NAPIER, Monday. The Mayor, Mr. J. Vigor Brov.n, was informed to-day by the borough solicitors that as a firm in which he was interested had sold cement to the council, in the year prior to his election, for which payment was made after the election, he automatically forfeits his seat. The money concerned, £57, was repaid to the council by the firm concerned, and this fact led the solicitors to give the opinion that Mr. Brown was eligible for reelection.
