AFTER MANY YEARS

Appeal, the aged son of Ghoai Pla.ntiff, who surprised the public on Saturday with his impressive display of trotting, and delighted his supporters with the useful dividend, won a race at Auckland six years ago. He was then owned and trained by Mr. W. B. Pollard, who was successful with the trotter in the Borough Handicap at Wanganui, on February 28, 1921. Appeal was then brought to Alexandra Park for the April meeting the same year and won the Easter Handicap. It is a remarkable coincidence that after an absence of several years from the track Appeal should find his way back to his former mentor and win at Epsom the first time of asking. That he is no chicken is shown by the fact that in 1921 he was returned on the card as an aged gelding.
