WAIHI COURT
SITTING BEFORE JUSTICES (From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Monday. Described by Senior-Sergeant Maclean as an Englishman having no love for New Zealand or its people, John Tempest Colyer, 29 years of age, pleaded guilty at the Waihi Court this morning before Justices to charges of obstructing the police and using indecent language. Accused was working on the Whangamata Road, and came into Waihi on Saturday and committed offences after having a few drinks. He was convicted and fined £ 1 on the charge of obstructing the police, and fined £2 for using indecent language. Default was fixed at three weeks’ imprisonment. Robert James Hooper, a married man, was arrested late on Saturday afternoon and charged with stealing a boiler valued at 255. The police intimated that further charges were pending, and accused was remanded to appear before the magistrate on July 5, bail being allowed in one sum of .£IOO.
