MANY WATCHES MISSING MAN WITH NUMEROUS ALIASES TJLEASE come down to the hotel A corner too ashamed to meet Mrs. Edgar. This note, received by Victor Edgar, a fancy goods dealer, of 328 Queen Street, preluded disclosures made in the Police Court yesterday afternoon, when William Henry Grant, alias Perham, alias Walker, alias Hill, was charged with stealing watches, cutlery and miscellaneous goods, valued at £sl 11s 9d. Victor Edgar, said he had financially assisted accused. Business was slack and Grant asked if he could sell goods on commission. Witness consented to this, and Grant took possession of a suitcase of goods. Later on witness found that stock valued from £IOO to £l5O was missing. Grant admitted to him selling watches for varying small sums. In his statement to Detective H. E. Knight, Grant denied guilt, and said he would not steal from a man who had befriended him. He pleaded not guilty and was sent on to the Supreme Court for trial.
