SUCCESSFUL YEAR’S WORK

SMITH AND CAUGHEY SOCIETY The report and balance sheet presented to the seventeenth annual meeting of the Smith and Caughey Mutual Aid Society showed a favourable result from the year’s working. Moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet Mr. H. F. Caughey congratulated the society on the success of the year’s operations. The society served the useful purpose of increasing the goodwill between staff, management and directorate. Membership showed an increase from 308 to 322. Cases of sickness aided were 213, against 200 in the previous year. In sick benefits £ 453 had been distributed and £250 has been paid in subscriptions, subsibised pound for pound by Smith and Caughey, Ltd The total receipts were £1,349, and the credit balance £833 18s. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. Robert Richmond; vicepresidents, Miss D. Gould a.nd Mr. L. Hooker; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. Banks; hon. secretary, Mr. C. R. Baker.
