BRITAIN KINDLY WAR DEBT CREDITOR

CANCELLATION FAVOURED ATTITUDE EXPLAINED By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Wednesday. Mr. G. L. Locker-Lampson, UnderHomo Secretary, in answer to a question, said that the United States Government has not been approached with a suggestion that it should contribute to the cost of the war. “Britain’s war debt policy is well known,” he said. “We favour an allround cancellation, but not securing that, we are fulfilling our obligations as debtors. As creditors, we are seeking only to obtain from the debts to Britain and from reparations, sufficient to cover payments made.” An international conference on war debts would serve no useful purpose in the absence of pre-agreement on general principles.”—A. and N.Z.
