FUNDS WANTED
AUCKLAND ORPHANS “Any home doing Its best to rear native-born orphans lis accomplishing a most praiseworthy work,” said Arch - bishop Averill at the annual meeting of the Auckland Orphan Home Trust Board yesterday. The annual report stated there were 72 children in the home on March 31, as compared with (59 at the corresponding date in 1926. The hoard's income from investments paid for the care of about 33 children, and subscriptions were necessary if the home was to do its work efficiently. Considerable repairs to the buildings were needed. The balance sheet showed that the working account was £467 2s 2d in debit The Archbishop said that the board's farm gave boys a very necessary training in farming before they took up agricultural work. The following committee was elected: Messrs. E. Yates, J. H. Hutchison, C. J. Tunks, Ward Baker and Dr. E. Roberton, and one to be nominated by the committee.
