’WARE BARR WIRE!

Commenting on cross-country runing in Auckland, “Argus" of Sydney Referee says: “In the Dominion their cross-country work iu the real article, and in some pictures I have seen of a four-mile cross* country event in Auckland, which was won by J. W. Savidan, who is well-known here, it iis evident that they have something with a bit “extra special” in the way of “country,” but I notice that a barbed wire fence was in evidence —and barbed wire should be rigorously barred out, for it is not a legitimate obstacle. And in saying this, let it be understood that I do not mind how big the obstacle or how wide the brook or ditch, but—’ware barb wire.”
