MAJESTIC

“THE RED MILL” “The Red Mill,” Marion Davies’s much-heralded new starring vehicle, and the film version of the famous musical comedy by Victor Herbert and Henry Blossom, will open at the Majestic Theatre to-day. It shows Marion Davies in a new role—one different from any she has ever attempted; more alluring, more charming and probably the most entertaining in her career. Miss Davies’s whimsical comedy talents find a ready opportunity in this romance of the Land of Tulips,- she romps through a charming role in pigtails and. wooden shoes, dainty as a painted figure on a bit of Holland china. She does some acting that reaches the heights of genius in dramatic moments with George Siegman, the villain of the new play; her love scenes with Owen Moore are romantically delicate. A notable cast supports Miss Davies in the new picture. It is a story of love and adventure in Holland. A spectacular winter festival, a great church scene, a stirring adventure in boats on a canal in a Dutch village are all interesting high lights in the production, together with eerie incidents in a weird haunted mill. Owen Moore plays the Irish lover of the Dutch heroine; George Siegman. the villainous Uncle Willem; and Karl Dane and Louise Fazenda make a hilarious comedy pair, aided and abetted by Snitz Edwards, Russell Powell as the burgomaster, William Orlamond as the aged Dutch Governor, and Fred. Gambold as a queer Dutch innkeeper.
