TWO BOYS WANTED
THEFTS OF HORSES POLICE MAKE INQUIRIES The misadventures of two boys, who, it is stated, disappeared from their home in Auckland a few days ago, are occupying the attention of the police. In addition to stealing a horse and gig belonging to Mr. A. Smith, of Penrose, and driving the horse to its death at Takanini, the boys are said to have stolen another horse, the property of Mr. C. Christian, of Takanini, and also two bicycles from Onehunga. Mr. Smith’s horse and gig disappeared from near the Tamaki Bridge on Monday afternoon. Yesterday morning was found dead between the shafts of the gig at Takanini. The boys were seen driving the gig through Papatoetoe. On Tuesday morning the boys were seen riding a horse up and down the footpath at Papakura. Mr. J. E. Elliott, headmaster of the school, approached the boys, w.„o told him that the horse belonged to their aunt. He took hold of one boy with the intention of taking him to the police, but the lad got away and scampered off down the road.
The police are searching for the two boys.
