ONEHUNGA POULTRY SHOW

SPLENDID ENTRIES THE OPENING CEREMONY The Mayor of Onehunga, Mr. W. C. Coldicutt, performed the ceremony of opening the Onehunga Poultry Show on Thursday evening, in the Foresters’ Theatre, the chair being occupied by Mr. E. Wrigley. In complimenting the club upon its fine range of exhibits, the Mayor pointed out that birds had been entered from places as far away as Stratford, Whangarei and Tauranga. With the continued increase in the number of exhibits it would be necessary to have a larger building for the show. The prize for the best fancy bird in, the show went to Mr. D. Starr, of Frankton, and that for the best utliity bird to Mr. H. W. Barribal, of Waiuku. The attendance of the public was very satisfactory. The most successful being Miss Ambler, who annexed the Sylvester Cup; also John Jarvis Honour Rose Bowl for best fancy bird in show, first Minorca hens (fancy), first Light Sussex, special best any other variety, first and special English Leghorns, firsts in both Khaki Campbell ducks and drakes, first, second and special utility Minorcas, first and second utility Khaki Campbells. Mr. T. Dowthwaite won first in both classes of fancy fawn and White Indian runners: also special. In utility classes his runner ducks won three firsts and special. Mr. E. A. Crossley won first utility runner over 12 months; also second and third fancy runners. Mr. V. Hanson scooped the pool jn the Pekin duck classes winning five firsts and two specials. In White Wyandottes, Mr. Harold Winstone won first and special cockerels; also first and second pullets. In Silvers, Mr. Skinner won two firsts in the fancy classes: also special best Wyandotte, first and special best utility Wyandotte. Mr. G. H. Parker secured second and third.
