RAGS TO RICHES
To be quite frank, "London,” Paramount’s new British National production. starring Dorothy Gish, is just a ‘ rags-to-riches’* story told in a delightfully new way. Yet when you come to analyse that phrase, isn’t it true that stories of the Cinderella type have always been popular? Doesn’t one usually feel happy when he knows that the heroine has come from the &i ms ’ rlsen to the heights, found her 1 rince Charming and attained happiness?
Of course you do. Cynics may scoff. ‘ ome may laugh and others deride, but when all is said and done, it’s the rags-to-riches” story which always wins out.
And without turning a hair, blushing the least bit, or offering any excuse, it announced that “London” is the S .ii° r * a modern Limehouse Cindereiia who finds happiness in Mayfield, t he picture is doubly valuable because o its authentic London scenes.
