DEVONPORT UNITED BAND
The Devonport United Band, which began as the Devonport Boys’ Band, held its seventh annual meeting in the bandroom last night. The Mayor of Devonport, Mr. E. Aldridge, was elected patron: Mr. A. Harvey, president; Mr. A. W. Tatton, bandmaster; and Mr. H. Martin, deputy master; Mr. J. Robinson, secretary; and Mr. H. T. Hoverd, who relinquished the secretaryship, retained the treasurer’s position. The committee is Messrs. Newby, F. Anthony, H. Tatton, I. Gulley, L. Gillespie, and Poole. The report and balance sheet indicated a good year, and the band is enabled to pay off £ 100 of its liabilities, leaving only £2OO to be liquidated. A programme of concerts around the borough is to be laid out by the committee.
