JOB FOR M C ILVENEY’S MEN
DRESSING-SHED THEFTS “Thank goodness, Mr. Mcllvene^ 3 on the warpath,” said Mr. J. M. Jownie at last night's meeting of he Auckland Football Association. The remark referred to extensive Differing from dressing-sheds at football grounds while the players were out on the field. , Complaints were received from the Y.M.C.A. and Tamaki teams to the effect that while they were playing: at the North Shore ground last Saturday, various articles were stolen from their pockets while the game was in progress. It was stated that when the players returned to the shed after the game a pitiful sight met their eyes. Clothes,. boots, socks and other apparel were strewn about the floor and among the missing was money, cigarettes, tobacco, shoes, boots, silk handkerchiefs and other articles. Another daylight robbery also took place at the Blandford Park dressingshed. A referee wrote asking the committee to refund to him the sum of 11s 6d which had been taken from his clothes which he left in the shed while he was out controlling a game. The committee, however, could not see its way clear to grant this request, as there were others who had also lost money and no refund had been made. Members of the committee state that it is almost impossible to fathom out the culprit, as the rooms are well guarded while games are in progress.
