SPOON FISHERMEN

PROTEST TO MINISTER Press Association. TAUMARUNUI, Tuesday. A deputation from the Taumarunui Rod and Gun Club waited on the Hon. R. F. Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs, last night, requesting that the present practice of allowing spoonfishing in Tokaanu rivers be adhered to. If fly-fishing alone were allowed in these rivers in future then licences would decrease from this end of the district. Mr. Bollard said Taupo fishing was not for any particular fishermen, but for all. . Certain rivers were set aside for fly-fishermen, but this class could not have all the rights. He assured the deputation that spoon-fishermen would be looked after in the new regulations to be issued shortly.
