AUCKLAND SHIVERS
A VERY COLD MORNING FROST IN PARTS OE THF CITY Auckland woke with a blue nose this morning. A resident of Mt. Albert said that he bad never known it to be so cold in that picturesque suburb. Out on the links at Middlemore the ladies poked their fingers througn ice they gathered the sand with which to tee up. Any foot which protruded from under the eiderdown was hastily pulk'd back again, and many a model husband rose in the stilly night to put more clothes on the bed. Passengers on the first trams to the Cl ty blew clouds of pretty mist as they trapped their overcoats about them. • Yes, Auckland had a very cold, healthy night, but the glorious sunshine of to-day has dimmed the memory of it Passengers on the Limited this morning said that it was particularly '■'>hl passing through the King Country, but the mountains were a glorious *!ght. Snow fell there a few days ago u&o and now reaches down the raillint*. Ruapehu is a wonderful *ight, with the snow completely coverthe mountain.
