FOOTBALLERS’ WOES

ROBBED OF CLOTHES DRESSING SHED THEFTS Embarrassed, and adorned in nothing but the garments of nature —they searched—an unending search—but their clothes they never found. £JUCH was the plight of two players at the Auckland Domain last Saturday. “Ain’t nature grand,” says the sentimental bloke, but in all probability it is - not likely that this socalled grandness of nature would have the required pleasing effect on two players when they returned io the dressing-rooms after having played their game of football, to find that they had been robbed of their clothes. Players in all three codes are suffering losses of personal property, and frequent complaints are being made to the controlling bodies. To date this season, sneak thieves have been very busy and have centred their operations mainly on the dress-ing-rooms at the Domain and Victoria Park. The thief has a large range to choose from, and while one unfortunate player will return to find that his pants have mysteriousiy disappeared. another will have missed his boots, short or even his whole suit or epat. The watch and chain and the silver coins always go. Last season cases of theft from the dressing-rooms were reported to the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union, which advised + hat the best procedure for players who had suffered loss of clothing and personal property, was to make a specific and direct complaint to the police.
