CRUSHED TO DEATH BENEATH CAR

FATALITY AT MATAROA TAIHAPE FARMER KILLED (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, To-day. AT a dangerous bend on the Tiri-raukawa-Mataroa Road, within four miles of Mataroa, a motor fatality occurred at dusk on Saturday evening. A light two-seater car, driven by Mr. Les McSweeney.who was accompanied by Mr. John Mills, failed to negotiate the corner and fell over a ten-foot bank. The car landed up-side-down, both occupants being pinned underneath. With difficulty MeSweeney extricated himself only to discover that Mills was already, dead.

The police were notified and aid summoned to extricate the unfortunate man, who had fallen facedownward in the mud in such a position as to be pinned down without a possible chance of releasing, himself. Deceased was a well-known farmer of the district and a married man, 27 years of age. His father, Mr. Robert Mills, is also a respected farmer of the Taihape district.
