AVONDALE TENNIS CLUB
ANNUAL DANCE The Avondale Tennis Club was not far behind other dancing enthusiasts of the district in holding its annual dance. The function held in the local town hall and attended by sixty couples proved most enjoyable. One of the contributing factors to the evening’s entertainment being the music of the orchestra, their items being irresistible. The floor was in splendid condition for comfortable and pleasing dancing, while the dainty supper, always a feature of the club’s dances, was heartily enjoyed.
AVONDALE BRIGADE’S “500” TOURNAMENT
A surprisingly good number of folk, in view of the inclement weather conditions, were present at the last Avondale Fire Brigade “500.” The successful followers of the tournament on this occasion were: Ladies: Mrs. Heron. 1; Miss Fisher, 2. Genutlemen: Air. W. Capes, 1; Air. Witham, 2.
A prominent new jumper note is the straight, upstanding military collar which characterises some of the latest models. The ends of this collar may be left loose or tied in a bow, according to the wearer’s taste.
