REQUEST TO SEE BOOKS REFUSED BY COUNCIL ‘T think this is an altogether unreasonable request,” remarked the mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, at the council meeting last evening when the New Zealand Natives’ Association “respectfully asked permission to investigate the books of employment in the tramways department for three years.” “Our affairs are open to a reasonable extent to ratepayers, but I don’t think we should consider this request from such an association,” remarked Mr. Baildon. Neither did the council.
