INVERCARGILL TO AUCKLAND

GREY LYNN CYCLIST’S 1,000 MILE JOURNEY THROUGH DOMINION Now that Alex Sutherland has set out to establish a record by cycling from the Queen to the Capital City in three days, it is found that similar endurance tests on the cycle have taken place in the Dominion quite recently. Last week an Aucklander, Mr. D. Gallaher, arrived home after a thousand mile trip, having cycled from Invercargill to Auckland. The rider struck a certain amount of bad luck with break-downs and strong winds; nevertheless he completed the whole journey from the far southern town to the north in 20 days, with 16 days actual cycling time. This no doubt is not a record, but since Mr. Gallaher was not racing, it may be considered as a very fine performance.
