SPARE THAT TREE

Cambridge is justly famous for its glorious trees, which are always greatly admired by visitors. Quite a commotion has been caused by the action of the Domain Board in felling some halfdozen stately trees in the Domain, fronting the croquet lawns. The object of removing them is to beautify the ground in that locality, but in the opinion of many nothing can recompense for the loss of these lovely trees, and the board’s action is condemned as vandalism. The trees felled are about 40 years of age, and comprise some magnificent redwoods, from 2ft to 2ft •in in diameter at the bowl, and some beautiful conifers.
