David Wark Griffith has always wanted to produce “Sorrows of Satan ’ but until joining Paramount has never been able to finance the spectale. When after a conference with Paramount officials, he was told to go ahead, the great director declared himself delighted. As the picture progressed, he became enthusiastic, and when camera work has been completed, expressed an opinion that it represented one of the major milestones of his career. Coming after “America,” * i-phans of the Storm,” “Way Down East” and “Dream Street,” that statement must be regard--ed .with respect. ,
