OTHER EXCHANGES Wellington. —Sale reported: New Zealand Breweries Debentures, bonds, 23s lid. MINING NEWS OCCIDENTAL-UNA. —The manager reports for the period ending June 4:—The No. 5 level has been cleaned out and retimbered. Preparations are being made this week for a start breaking quartz from the No. 2 reef in this level. This reef is well mineralised and full of silica and looks really well. A littie quartz broken shows dabs of gold. Everything is now going well and the pump is keeping the water down working two hours daily. NONPAREIL. —The manager reports:— Work is proceeding on the Liverpool Coys reef. The reef has pinched a little, but is still heavily mineralised and water is coming from the face. The country is first-class and is interspersed with mineral seams. A leader is going across the face at a long angle and should strike the reef soon. MOANATAIARI. Reporting for the week ending June 4 the manager advises:—The drive hillward has been extended three feet, a total of 50 feet. From side of main crosscut the reef here averages sft. wide and carries a fair amount of mineral blend and silica, but it is also mixed with mullock. The drive seaward has been driven 4ft., a total of 67ft. from side of main crosscuts. The reef here averages sft. wide and is still composed of hard pug mixed with fine quartz. The rise on reef from the seaward end has been driven 4ft., a total of 4ft. The reef here averages 6ft. wide but is still split into three branches. The hanging wall branch is 2ft. wide of a nice body of stone. From here I secured 41b. of stone showing strong dabs of gold. The centre branch is about 2ft. wide, but Is composed of mullock interlaced with quartz stringers and silica veins. The footwall branch averages 2ft. wide of a mixture of hard quartz and pug. The quartz here is fairly heavily mineralised. The No. 1 stope on reef at the seaward end lias been carried along 10ft., a total of 10ft. from No. 2 winze back toward the mam crosscut. The reef here averages 6ft. wide and is also split into three branches, the same as in the rise. A few colours of gold were seen in the hanging wall branch. The No. 2 winze on reef at the seaward end was full of fine quartz caused in shooting down the roof of drive, etc., but is now cleaned out and a start made to sink. The pump is in No. 1 winze and is working well.
