Time, "5.30 The Hunt Club All started in the Hunt Cup, best backed being Cui Bono £1,335, Glendowie £1,058, and Lupineel £1,035. Glenciowie was in charge as they came over the double on the flat after going more tnan a mile, closely attended by Pendavies and Cui Bono, who were well dear of Syndicate, Sea Comet, Memsahib, Lupineel and Whetuhine. The held closed up on the hill, where Sea Comet fell, the order here being Pendavies, Glendowie, Cui Bono, Syndicate, and Whetuhine, with Lupineel making up his ground. Glendowie was in front at the stone wall, but he fell here and Pendavies and Lupineel rose at the last fence together, Syndicate and Cui Bono following at intervals. Lupineel ran wide out in the run home and Pendavies beat him by two lengths. Syndicate was 15 lengths away third, and at intervals came Cui Bono, Memsahib, Miss Lucca and Whetuhine. Golden Krist’s Surprise Of the big field of 19 in the Ranfurly Handicap Modest Boy £1,770 was made a solid favourite, with fair support coming for Kyngzone £l,Oll, Lady Robinson £854, and Killute £773. At the start Ahi Ngaro', Tin Whistle and Miss Potoa were very slow to move. Appellant and Flitter going out fast from Catapult, Luxurious, Judge’s Box, Modest Boy, Harbour View, Te Kawana, Rina Maunga, with Golden Krist next at the head of a bunch. Flitter led past the half-mile from Appellant, Catapult, Luxurious, Modest Boy, Judge’s Box, Te Kawana, Golden Krist and Harbour View. This was practically the order into the straight, with Golden Krist threading a way through the field. At the distance there was little between Catapult, Golden Krist, Judge’s Box and Modest Boy, and of these Golden Krist finished best and won by a length from Catapult, with Modest Boy two lengths off in third place. Judge’s Box was fourth, and then came Killute. Rina Mangu, Luxurious, Anola, Harbour View and Flitter. REMUERA HURDLE RACE Of 750sovs. Two miles. 1— DAY BELL (Dr. W. C. Ring and Dr. A. Day Bell Wins Only five came out for the Remuera Hurdles, and in quite a good pool Day Bell was entrusted with £2,265, Archi-
bald £1,980 and Black Cruiser £1,701. Black Cruiser was the early leader, and over the preliminary stages he was pulling hard. Passing the post the first time Black Cruiser, Archibald, Day Bell and Royal Abbey were running with little between them, Royal Form having clouted the third fence and losing his rider. Soon after passing the five furlongs Archibald and Day Bell both ran past the leader, the order into the straight being Archibald, Day Bell, Royal Abbey and Black Cruiser. The first pair had little between them at the last fence, but in the run home Day Bell wore Archibald down and won by a neck. Royal Abbey was a length and a-half away, and Black Cruiser five lengths away.
