The pearly gates of the Elysian b ields were opened not so long ago at Astoria, Long Island, and a thousand lost souls marched into the Kingdom of Heaven. This -astonishing event took place at Paramount’s studio, in the presence of Fred Waller and three expert assistants. The scene, one of the most difficult, technically, ever filmed, appears in the new D. W. Griffith production, “The Sorrows of Satan.” Adolphe Menjou. Ricardo Cortez, Carol Dempster, ar.d Lya de Putti have the featured roles.
Mary Brian has returned to her home in Hollywood from Dallas, Texas, where she stopped for two days on her way from New York, accompanied by her mother. She is scheduled to be leading woman for Richard Dix in his next Paramount picture, “Who’s Your Friend?” soon to go into production. While in the east. Miss Brian played in two pictures in quick succession The first was in “Knock-out Reilly,” opposite Richard Dix. As soon as this was finished, she went into the principal feminine role in W. C. Field’s latest starring picture.
Louise Fazenda, who is now playing in the Master picture to be announced shortly “Foot-Loose Widows,” is considered as one of the cleverest of screen comediennes. Born in Lafayette, Indiana, she received her education at St. Mary's Convent and the Los Angeles High School before she embarked upon a short career in stock. Originally associated with the pigtails and ginghams of slapstick comedies, Miss Fazenda progressed to more subtle roles and has been featured in many big productions.
