Colonel Hoi Kate, of the Salvation Army, left for the South by the Limited last evening.

r E. T. Spidey, superintendent of (he railway workshops, Wellington, is in Auckland on departmental business.

Mr. T. W. Rhodes, M.P., joined the Limited last evening on his way to ■Wellington.

yr. W. Rogers, manager of the Anchor Shipping Company, Ltd., arrived in Auckland from the South this morning and is staying with his daughter, Mrs. A. F. Grace.

The Hon. G. J. Smith. M.L.C., and Mrs. Smith arrived in Auckland from Christchurch by the Limited this morning. They are staying at the Grand Hotel, and will go on to Hamilton later.

Mr. H. S. Robinson, secretary of the Melanesian Mission, has left Auckland on a visit to the Southern centres.

Mr. E. Rutledge arrived from Wellington last night and is staying at the Grand Hotel.

Among the visitors who arrived in Auckland lately were Professor R. Lawson, of the Otago University, and Mrs. Lawson. During their visit they will be the guests of Mrs. J. Stanton, 0 f Epsom.

The Auckland delegates, Professor V/. Riddet, Mr. T. U. Wells and Mr. M. R- O’Shea, who were attending a meeting of the Agricultural College Council at Palmerston North, returned to Auckland yesterday.

Mr. E. C. Banks has been appointed a member of the General Council of Education to represent the interests of agriculture. Messrs. J. R. Kirk and T. U. Wells have also been appointed as representatives of North Island education boards.
