SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF COATES REGIME

WELLINGTON, Monday, rpwo years ago to-day the Coates Government assumed office, after Sir Francis Bell had acted as Prime Minister from the date of Mr. Massey’s death. Since Mr. Coates rearranged the Ministry on January 8 last year, there have been only two removals —the Hon. D. H. Guthrie’s death removed one member from the Executive Council, and Sir James Parr relinquished the fortfolios of Education, Post-master-General and Telegraphs upon his appointment as High Commissioner. Mr. Coates was the recipient of congratulations from many quarters this morning.
