TAMAKI'S THANKS
ST. HELIERS FUNCTION To mark their appreciation of ifOUl*' retiring members of the Tamaki Road Board, ratepayers held a social evening at St. Heliers last night. The members were Messrs M. G. McArthur, who has been chairman for five years; F. G. Baskett, chairman of the Works Committee for five years; A. G. Pycroft and P. C. White. About 70 residents were present. Mr. G. R. Hogan, the chairman of the meeting, in proposing the toast of “Our Guests,” referred in eulogistic terms to the work of the chairman and his fellow members. A presentation was made on behalf of the ratepayers to Mr. A. G., McArthur, of two silver entree dishes suitably inscribed. In making the presentation Mr. Hogan remarked that it was a token of esteem and affectionate regard from the ratepayers for his sterling services and was to be accepted also in recognition of the. service of his colleagues. Mr. McArthur expressed his deep appreciation of the kindly thought of the ratepayers. The toast to the retiring members, previous board members, and the present board was drunk with musical honours. Several vocal items, particularly those of Mr. S. Pritchard and Mr. Carter, were much appreciated.
