DR. ELLISON, DIRECTOR OF MAORI HYGIENE
DR. BUCK’S SUCCESSOR Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. Dr. Edward Pohau Ellison, at present medical officer of Cook Islands, has been appointed to succeed Dr. Buck as Director of Maori Hygiene in New Zealand. Dr. Ellison has done good work in the Islands, the results of which indicate an intimate understanding of native needs. He born at Porto Bello 40 years ago, and took his medical degrees at Otago University. He was for a time medical officer and magist ) te in the Chatham Islands. Then he was appointed to Rarotonga. In his university days Dr. Ellison was a well-known footballer, and while resident in the Chatham Islands interested the younger generation in the game.
